An Operating System is the fundamental software which controls a computer system. It takes care of the way your hardware operates, the communication with peripherals for instance a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between various applications, plus the prioritization of apps in case multiple ones run at the same time. Each and every program that's installed on a computer operates by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The communication with the OS can be achieved using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the OS is what commands a hosting server together with any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also any other application such as a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they employ a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

Our virtual private server packages include three Linux releases which you may select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and risk-free and the main reason to offer all three of them is to ensure that you can run any kind of application that you'd like, since different pieces of software may have different requirements for the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is backed by a large community of web developers who have produced thousands of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to choose between three different Control Panels to handle your hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need a different OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are free and they won't increase the cost of your new hosting server, but also because they are outstandingly secure and stable. Each of them is backed up by a large community of developers, so you'll be able to choose from a large number software packages that you could install on your server if the app that you would like to use has specific requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on particular OSs only and because we want to provide you with as much flexibility as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you choose a server with a given OS, we can change it upon request if it turns out that you need a different one. We can also keep your OS updated weekly as a part of our useful Managed Services upgrade.
